GST calculation formulas
Example: ₹10,000 plus 18% GST gives ₹1,800 GST and a total of ₹11,800. Removing 18% GST from ₹11,800 gives back the ₹10,000 net amount.
For a sale within the same state, GST is split equally into CGST and SGST (or UTGST). For a sale between states, the full amount is charged as IGST.

Frequently asked questions
What is a GST calculator?
A GST calculator is an online tool that works out the GST amount, the price before tax and the final price for any amount, so you do not have to do the maths by hand.
How do I calculate GST on a price?
Multiply the net price by the GST rate and divide by 100 to get the GST. Add it to the net price to get the total. For example, 18% GST on ₹1,000 is ₹180, so the total is ₹1,180.
How do I remove GST from a GST-inclusive price?
Divide the total price by (1 + GST rate ÷ 100) to get the net price. The difference between the total and the net price is the GST. Select Remove GST in this calculator to do it automatically.
What are the current GST rates in India?
The main GST slabs in India are 0%, 5%, 18% and 40%, with special rates of 0.25% and 3% for certain items such as precious stones and gold. The 12% and 28% slabs were largely removed from 22 September 2025.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?
CGST goes to the central government and SGST goes to the state government, and they apply together on sales within one state. IGST is charged on sales between states and on imports.
